These events are a lot of fun because your main goal is to destroy as many vehicles as possible. In the single player campaign, there are many destruction derby events that you can participate in. While this is technically a racing game, there are several other events you can participate in that will keep things feeling fresh. Usually with a racing line in Forza and Gran Turismo games I can see the best route I can take during a race. Wreckfest doesn’t have a rewind feature like Forza, so if you crash on the last lap, you might have to start the race all over again if you want to finish first!Īnother thing Wreckfest doesn’t have is a handy raceline overlay. However, I have to admit that Wreckfest lacks a few features that really make the Forza games accessible.

I recommend getting a Pro Controller for Switch if you want to play this game comfortably. Holding the trigger for many hours feels a bit uncomfortable compared to Xbox and PlayStation controllers. The only thing I didn’t like about the controls is that the Nintendo Switch triggers are too small to play in handheld mode. If you’re good at racing games, you can always turn off the assists when you don’t need help. Each of the vehicles handles differently from each other, although there are driving aids available for casual gamers if you’re mostly useless at playing racing games.

Aside from the usual stock cars, I’ve been able to drive buses, vans, lawnmowers, harvesters, and even a steerable bench! Of course, this game may not be realistic, but its craziness makes it very entertaining to play.Īs far as controls go, Wreckfest handles pretty well on the Nintendo Switch. Games like Gran Turismo 7 can’t do too much damage because some car manufacturers don’t allow it in some video games. The main reason Wreckfest can get away with so much carnage is that there are no licensed vehicles in the game. I like that this game has a strong focus on destruction and chaos, because I missed this kind of carnage in the old Burnout games.Įven a modern game like Gran Turismo 7 on the PS5 doesn’t have realistic damage modeling like Wreckfest. Visually, the game is still impressive as you will see a ton of debris flying into the sky when you crash into vehicles. Sure, some environments look a little grainy compared to its bigger console cousins, but the graphics still look pretty good for a game running on a much less powerful gaming system. Wreckfest runs surprisingly well on the Switch, as I didn’t notice any lag or delays even though multiple vehicles were on the screen at once. While the Switch version can only run at 30fps due to hardware limitations, the biggest advantage of this version is that I can play it on the go!

If you own a PS5 or Xbox Series X, you may already know that these versions can run the game at a smooth 60fps. Personally, I’ve been playing the Switch version of Wreckfest for the past week and I’m happy to say that I really enjoy playing it.
